BJP leaders and workers arrested after clashes during Jaipur demonstration

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a massive demonstration in Jaipur today, protesting against the state government

The demonstration included a march to the secretariat. The police used water cannons to disperse the BJP workers gathered at Statue Circle, leading to clashes between senior leaders including Satish Poonia and the police. During the altercation, some workers were injured.

Among those arrested in the demonstration were State President CP Joshi, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, Deputy Leader of Opposition Satish Poonia, MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, MP Sumedhanand, and many other prominent BJP leaders.

Before the planned secretariat gherao, a meeting was held outside the state BJP office. Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore delivered a speech, expressing the party’s determination to end the Gehlot government’s rule in Rajasthan.

The BJP claims that lakhs of people from across the state participated in the ‘Chalo Jaipur’ protest, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi lending his support to the campaign through a retweet. The party’s ‘Nahin Sahega Rajasthan’ movement aims to challenge the current Congress rule in the state.

After being taken into custody, Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore said that the party would continue the agitation against the Gehlot government’s misrule.

Former minister and MLA Vasudev Devnani criticized the state government’s response to the demonstrations, calling it an attempt to suppress dissent.

The ‘Nahin Sahega Rajasthan’ campaign, initiated by BJP national president JP Nadda on July 16, aims to address issues such as corruption, paper leaks, loan waivers, atrocities against women and Dalits, and law and order problems in the state.
